Benchmark and TurnKey staff have broad experience in the study, permitting, design, construction and optimization of stormwater and wastewater collection and treatment systems. Benchmark staff specialize in new system and retrofits to biological and physical/chemical treatment systems for high strength and complex wastewaters. Bench- or pilot-scale treatability studies are often the first critical step in such applications. We tailor the process design to each unique application and discharge requirement. We then develop the project delivery system (e.g. design- build) to best meet the client’s needs.

Stormwater and Wastewater Collection, Conveyance and Treatment

Benchmark was engaged by the Town of Tonawanda to provide a fast-track evaluation, design and installation oversight of an odor control system and upgrade of critical mechanical piping and valves at the Parker Sewage Pump Station. The resulting biofiltration system recommended for the facility combines efficient hydrogen sulfide removal at minimal operating cost. The 17 MGD station is the largest and most critical in the Town. Construction was phased and closely coordinated with operating staff to minimize service interruptions.

Water Treatment and Distribution Facility Design, Construction, and Operations

Benchmark staff  have worked with municipal clients to ensure efficient distribution systems and safe drinking water supplies. A recent project performed by Benchmark staff  involved design of major process and electrical upgrades to the Sturgeon Point Pump Station, which delivers approximately 60% of the potable water supplied by the Erie County Water Authority to its customers.
