Benchmark and TurnKey are leaders in brownfields redevelopment, having pioneered voluntary cleanup investigation, remediation and redevelopment efforts at abandoned or underutilized industrial and commercial properties. As the TurnKey name implies, we offer a design-build approach to clients wishing to expedite the process and/or maintain all site redevelopment responsibilities with a single entity.

TurnKey staff led the investigation and cleanup of a 50-acre petroleum-contaminated property in Buffalo, NY, which was performed to facilitate construction of this $22 million hydroponics tomato plant. Approximately 17,000 cubic yards of contaminated soils were excavated and bioremediated on a nearby property at a significant cost savings over landfill disposal. The project, which was featured in the New York Times, is one of the largest and most successful brownfields restoration efforts in the Country.

Proper demolition and decontamination of unsound or unusable industrial structures can represent a challenge to site redevelopment. Benchmark and TurnKey staff have performed pre-demolition surveys, prepared demolition and decontamination plans and specifications, secured regulatory approvals and directed construction activities for industrial, municipal and public recreation facilities.
